A’Gaci files for bank­ruptcy

Women’s ap­parel re­tailer A’Gaci filed for bank­ruptcy pro­tec­tion, seek­ing to re­or­ga­nize its $62 mil­lion in debt amid poor fi­nan­cial per­for­mance af­ter a failed ex­pan­sion, hur­ri­canes and other trou­bles. San An­to­nio-based A’Gaci is seek­ing bank­ruptcy court ap­proval to close 49 of its 78 stores, in­clud­ing one store in the Hous­ton area, at 11200 Broad­way St. in Pear­land. Twenty-one of its 34 stores in Texas are on the clo­sure list.
