LENORE FENBERG

1923-2018

Lenore Fenberg, born on May 20, 1923, in Brooklyn, New York, to Harry and Lottie Berkowitz, passed away on January 12, 2018, in Houston, Texas, her home since 1945. She was preceded in death by her husband, Morton Fenberg, by her parents and brother, Kenneth Berk, and by her in-laws Eleanor and Bennett Fenberg, Shirley Barish, June Berk, L. B. and Marilyn Fenberg and Rhoda and Fred Krauss. She leaves behind her children Jay and Carole Fenberg and Steven Fenberg and Harry De Jonge, and her brother-in-law Marvin Barish and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Lenore Fenberg was a superb salesperson and loved helping customers at Nolen Jewelry Company—the family’s business—and later at the Sterling Armadillo and, while in her 80s, at Talbot’s. She was an active volunteer, was a past-president Congregation Emanu El’s Sisterhood and was one of the first women to serve on the congregation’s executive board. She volunteered at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and University Place nursing home and served as a liaison between residents in area nursing homes and the state agency that oversees them. Lenore enjoyed mah jong, world travel, a good book, newspapers, dining out, a daily scotch and soda and for many years, fishing and fun at Bridge Harbor Marina, which her husband developed as a principal partner. The family will be forever grateful for the years of devoted care provided by Drs. Uday Doctor, Kenneth Horwitz, Ming Jih and Paul Salmonsen and most particularly by Dr. Jeffrey Steinbauer at Baylor College of Medicine and by Delicia Frank and Shirley Frank and the Frank Home Care staff, and most recently by Houston Methodist and Houston Hospice. Services will be held at Emanu El Memorial Park, 8341 Bissonnet, Houston, Texas, 77074, on January 15, 2018 at 2:00 pm.
