1923-2018

-

Leone Mabry Sturman, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, the 10th of January, 2018. Leone was born the 3rd of July, 1923 in Anderson, Texas to Ora McIntyre Mabry and James Mabry. She was married to the late B.F. Sturman, Houston Home-builder and Developer.

Leone was known for her beautiful smile and caring, generous heart that was sensitive to others’ needs. She was a wonderful and selfless mother and grandmother. Her life was totally dedicated to her Lord, family and friends.

Leone was a member of Second Baptist Church and sang in the choir for many years. She was an honorary member of the President’s Council at Houston Baptist University. She was also a member of the Junior League. She and B.F. enjoyed traveling to many places throughout the world. She was a devoted wife and mother to their two sons. Life presented her with many challenges which she met with courage, trusting the Lord for her strength. When her husband became ill, she accepted the responsibility of his care along with management the business. She was an intelligent woman who carried herself with grace, dignity and style. She was a remarkable woman on so many levels and will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

Leone leaves behind two sons, Frank and John Sturman; granddaughters, Jessica Sturman and Stefanie Sturman Hallock and husband Jeffery; great grandson, Grayson Hallock, all of Houston; siblings, Marcelle Suda of Somerville and Robert Mabry of Georgetown; cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. The family wishes to publically thank her niece, Pam Stoltman, who provided so much support and guidance; and to Pat Bybee, Elizabeth Dardon, Maggie McPhee, Sherry Howell, and DeLana and Paul Bice for their thoughtful gestures of love and friendship, who are considered “extended family.” The family is grateful to the dedicated caregivers, Lorena Torres, Erma Billups, LaKeisha Mitchell, and Angela Boyd, who endeavored to make Leone’s final months comfortable.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock in the afternoon until seven o’clock in the evening on Wednesday, the 17th of January, in the parlor and grand foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.

The funeral service will be conducted at eleven o’clock in the morning on Thursday, the 18th of January, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons.

The interment will follow, via an escorted cortege, at Forest Park Lawndale in Houston.
