Train derails near Ship Channel
A freight train went off the track about 7 a.m. Monday near the Ship Channel in east Houston, according to the Houston Fire Department. No injuries were reported in the accident, which occurred near the 7200 block of J.W. Peavey, adjacent to the Ship Channel’s turning basin. Fire officials did not know what caused the derailed cars, which spilled plastic pellets.
