Mar­i­lyn Fredrick Billings of Hous­ton, passed away Jan­uary 10, 2017. Mar­i­lyn was born to a prom­i­nent bank­ing fam­ily in St. Louis, Mis­souri. Her fa­ther, Ge­orge Rus­sell Fredrick was Pres­i­dent and Chair­man of the Board of South­west Bank of St. Louis which he de­vel­oped to be one of the lead­ing bank­ing eco­nomic in­di­ca­tors in the United States.

She grad­u­ated from Ward Bel­mont High School, Ladies Fin­ish­ing School, Nashville, Ten­nessee. She earned her First De­gree from the Univer­sity of Chicago - Phi­los­o­phy, and her Se­cond De­gree from Univer­sity of Iowa - Phi­los­o­phy. Mar­i­lyn made her De­but in St. Louis, and worked five years af­ter col­lege for Delta Air­lines trav­el­ing in­ter­na­tion­ally. She mar­ried Thomas J. Billings at St. John the Devine, River Oaks, Hous­ton, Texas, April 28, 1956.

Mar­i­lyn has been a mem­ber of Delta, Delta, Delta soror­ity, Life Mem­ber of Univer­sity of Texas and Univer­sity of Iowa, Friends of Gov­er­nor’s Man­sion - Austin, Chan­cel­lor Coun­cil Univer­sity of Texas, In­sti­tute of Texan Cul­tures San An­to­nio and The Pres­i­dent. Coun­cil CCSU, Pres­i­dent’s Coun­cil West­min­ster Col­lege, Ful­ton, Mis­souri; She has serve on the Board of the YWCA, Fam­ily Coun­sel­ing, St. James Epis­co­pal School, The Friends of St. James and Padre In­dus­tries, Inc., The Pres­i­dent’s As­so­ciates and The Chan­cel­lor’s Coun­cil for the Univer­sity of Texas.

She was a Cor­po­rate Ex­ec­u­tive for Padre In­dus­tries, Inc. The Lex­ing­ton Mu­seum, The Art Mu­seum, Cor­pus Christi Mu­seum, Friends of the Li­brary, Texas State Aquar­ium.

Mrs. Billings is sur­vived by her hus­band, Thomas J. Billings; three sons, Thomas F. Billings and wife Les­lie of Dal­las, Robert P. Billings and wife Cyn­thia of Hous­ton, Jonathan H.
