Man allegedly carrying knife is fatally shot

One man was killed in a shooting Saturday night in the 5400 block of Minden in northeast Houston, authorities confirmed.

The Houston Police Department responded to the scene of a shooting call just before 7 p.m.

The victim — who has not been identified — was allegedly carrying a knife at the time of gunfire. Firefighters pronounced him dead at the scene.

“We did detain one person at the scene who stated that it was in selfdefense,” HPD spokeswoman Jodi Silva said Sunday.

It was not clear whether the case will be referred to a grand jury.
