Man shot dead outside gas station; suspect at large

A man was killed outside a Gulf gas station in northwest Houston in an overnight outburst of violence.

Police responded to reports of a shooting just after 4:30 a.m. Sunday morning at North Shepherd and Curtin.

A man and a woman were sitting by the side of the gas station when a car drove by and opened fire, according to HPD Detective Mark Condon. The victim was shot in the chest, and when police arrived they found him dead on the ground outside the station.

His identity was not immediatel­y released, and it’s unclear whether he was the intended target.

Police are still on the hunt for the shooter, who fled in a silver four-door car.
