Man barrels car through gates, causing a fire
An allegedly drunken driver barreled through the closed gates of a business and sparked a fire Sunday morning in north Houston, authorities said.
Just before 5 a.m., firefighters flooded the scene where smoke and flames were pouring out of storage units in the 14000 block of Northwest Freeway.
Houston Fire Department crews found an apparently drunken man nearby and determined that he had started the blaze when his car caught fire after he allegedly drove through the storage facility’s gate and crashed into one of the units.
The driver, whom authorities did not identify, was taken into custody on suspicion of drunken driving.
