Hope for ‘Dreamers’

Houston Chronicle - - WORLD - Robert M. Louie, Houston

Regarding “Dems say they have DACA deal with Trump” (Page A1, Thursday), the Democrats may have a deal, but they don’t have a law that can be enacted by the president. If they are willing to deal with the president, then they should be willing to deal with the Republican Congress to get a law to protect children who had benefited from President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, program.

The kids are in a special category and should be treated a little differently. But they need to get in line with all those who are legally going through the immigration process. The question is, where in line do they need to go?

And an age limit must be imposed because we can’t allow those currently coming in illegally to get the same benefits. Otherwise this will never end.
