Se­cu­rity grant goes to Port of Galve­ston

The Port of Galve­ston re­ceived a $1 mil­lion grant to boost its se­cu­rity, of­fi­cials an­nounced Thurs­day.

The grant, awarded by the Fed­eral Emer­gency Man­age­ment Agency, will be used for two projects. The first expands the port’s fiber net­work in­fra­struc­ture and video surveillance sys­tems, sup­ports cy­ber­se­cu­rity ef­forts and pro­vides funds to as­sist with sys­tem main­te­nance.

The sec­ond will re­place the canopy at the se­cu­rity gate serv­ing the port’s West End ter­mi­nals, ac­cord­ing to a news re­lease.
