Mrs. Koonce was born August 26, 1921, in Frankston, Texas, the youngest of eight children, and spent her early life in Marshall and Houston. She worked at Sears in Houston until she married Wiley G. Koonce in 1953. The couple lived and traveled internationally and domestically during their 51 years together, eventually settling in Washington state. She enjoyed her family, neighbors, antiques, and books, and stayed closely connected to siblings and other relations. Mrs. Koonce’s faith in Christ was deep; she believed life was given to her for a purpose, and she returned unconditional love to her children, Suzanne and Michael, and her grandchild, Jessie, who survive her along with many nephews, nieces, grandnephews, and grandnieces.
