Wrong place, wrong time

Houston Chronicle - - WORLD -

Regarding “Trump: ‘About time’ players required to stand for anthem” (Page C5, Thursday), NFL players have the right of free speech and to protest. However, not in a venue where fans who have paid big bucks are forced to watch such unpatriotic behavior.

Once the players put on their uniforms to play a game, the owners of the teams who pay them ridiculous salaries also have the right and responsibility as their employer to demand that players act in a respectful manner by showing respect for the flag and our national anthem.

NFL team owners need to put an end to this disgraceful behavior and show some patriotism by controlling their players. My household will not watch an NFL game or support the NFL in any way. Robert T. Haas, Missouri City
