Air­line deal in Ger­many

A jet­liner op­er­ated by Ger­man air­line Air Berlin rolls past a Lufthansa plane this week in Dues­sel­dorf. Ger­many’s big­gest air­line, Lufthansa, signed an agree­ment Thurs­day to buy sec­tions of Air Berlin, a low-cost car­rier that had filed for in­sol­vency this sum­mer. Air Berlin said that Lufthansa would ac­quire sev­eral busi­ness units, in­clud­ing Niki Luft­fahrt and Luft­fahrt­ge­sellschaft Wal­ter, for $249 mil­lion.
