Robert Mahan Hardy, Jr. August 11, 1946 – October 28, 2017

Robert M. “Bob” Hardy, Jr, 71 passed away peacefully on Saturday October 28, 2017 surrounded by family and close friends.

He was a graduate of Memorial High School, Tulane University and went on to graduate from U of H Law School in 1974.

His legal career began at Butler Binion where he stayed until 1986 when he and John L “Jack” McConn started the firm of McConn and Hardy. Together they tried several cases that returned multimilli­on dollar jury verdicts. Bob went into private practice in 1992. While in private practice, he argued a patent case in front of the United States Court of Appeals, Federal Circuit in 1998 and was successful in having the case vacated and remanded back to state court.

He started Hardy Constructi­on Products, LLP in 1998. He teamed up with Louis A. “Lou” Waters, Jr; and engineered a product for the road constructi­on industry. Together they applied for and received a Patent on February 19, 2004 known in the industry as the Hardy ChairLok. Edgeworth Constructi­on Products develops and markets the patented Hardy Chair-Lok™, the leading rebar chair used for reinforced concrete highway paving in the Southwest.

Bob loved ranching, boating, golfing, gourmet cooking, playing the piano and watching his favorite sports teams. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Dorothy May McClurkin and Robert M. Hardy, Sr., his grandparen­ts and many aunts and uncles. He is survived by his daughter Anna Hardy Finger, sons Travis R. Hardy, Andrew V. Hardy and Benjamin E. Hardy, his grandchild­ren Mirabel Finger, Elise Finger and Kora Hardy, sisters Linda Hardy Lawson and her husband Bob Lawson, and Roberta Hardy Curtice and her husband Brian Curtice, two step-sisters Vicky McNeely and Susan Lannon and many nieces and nephews.

Bob’s memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the A.D. Bruce Religion Center on the University of Houston main campus at 3841 Cullen Blvd.
