Death row appeals

-

Regarding “Death row inmate in poor health files to cancel execution” (Page A17, Saturday), if they keep him in prison long enough, lawyers for death row inmate Danny Bible will come up with a bunch more excuses to delay his date with the executioner, because time is ruthless.

I guess we are supposed to feel sorry for him. He had no sympathy for his victims. I have no sympathy for Bible. My sympathy is with the poor, hapless victims, who had nobody pleading for their lives.

The article goes on to say that the man was sent to death row in 2003, more than two decades after the crime that put him there. We can only imagine how much money he has cost the taxpayers.

To protect victims, our so-called lawmakers should make laws to end killers' time in jail and see that the time for all the appeals is shortened. Audrey Schambon, Houston
