Time change

-

Regarding “It’s daylight saving time again, but why do it? (Newsmakers page, Saturday): Yet again this past weekend we went through our semi-annual ritual of mindlessly changing our clocks to either spring forward or fall backward. This twice yearly change to our clocks results in a sunset as early as 5:30 p.m. in the winter and as late as 8:30 p.m. in the summer.

If we are going to change the clock twice a year, then we should do exactly the opposite and simply fall forward and spring backward. This would result in a more consistent sunset in the 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. time range year-round. It just makes sense to do this. Matt Pace, Houston
