Britt signs with Texans for $5M

-

One week after cutting starting center Nick Martin, the Texans have found his replacement.

Veteran center Justin Britt, formerly with the Seattle Seahawks, has signed a one-year contract with a maximum value of $5 million, according to league sources not authorized to speak publicly.

The deal has a base value of $3.2 million and can reach the $5 million figure if he reaches playtime bonuses, according to sources.

“I’m back!” Britt wrote on social media after signing his contract.

Britt, 29, is a 2014 Seahawks second-round draft pick from Missouri.

He was cut by the Seahawks last April.

Britt (6-foot-6, 325 pounds) has started 86 of 87 career games.

Britt tore his anterior cruciate ligament in 2019, cutting short his season after eight games. Prior to that, he had missed just two games in his first five NFL seasons.
