Tigers score win against Yuma Catholic

YUMA — The Imperial High baseball team recorded a solid 10-2 victory over Yuma Catholic here on Friday night.

Imperial struck early against the Shamrocks, scoring two runs in the first inning off a single by Kobby Lopez and a double by Chris Lopez.

Imperial collected 11 hits in the game with Diego Favila, Kobby and Chris all leading the Tigers with two hits each and a combined four RBIs.

Also for the Tigers, Brady Hodgkin went 1-3 with a double and one RBI and Gary Wild went 1-1 with one RBI.

On the mound for Imperial, Jonathan Reyes picked up the win going three innings, while giving up just three hits and recording two strikeouts.

Christian Zamudio, Wild and Alex Duarte combined to close the game and limit the Shamrocks to seven hits.

With the win, the Tigers improve to 6-0 overall and return to action at 7 p.m. on Tuesday traveling to face Holtville High in both teams’ Imperial Valley League opener.
