Tigers score win against Yuma Catholic

YUMA — The Im­pe­rial High base­ball team recorded a solid 10-2 vic­tory over Yuma Catholic here on Fri­day night.

Im­pe­rial struck early against the Sham­rocks, scor­ing two runs in the first in­ning off a sin­gle by Kobby Lopez and a dou­ble by Chris Lopez.

Im­pe­rial col­lected 11 hits in the game with Diego Fav­ila, Kobby and Chris all lead­ing the Tigers with two hits each and a com­bined four RBIs.

Also for the Tigers, Brady Hodgkin went 1-3 with a dou­ble and one RBI and Gary Wild went 1-1 with one RBI.

On the mound for Im­pe­rial, Jonathan Reyes picked up the win go­ing three in­nings, while giv­ing up just three hits and record­ing two strike­outs.

Chris­tian Za­mu­dio, Wild and Alex Duarte com­bined to close the game and limit the Sham­rocks to seven hits.

With the win, the Tigers im­prove to 6-0 over­all and re­turn to ac­tion at 7 p.m. on Tues­day trav­el­ing to face Holtville High in both teams’ Im­pe­rial Val­ley League opener.
