DUI checkpoint nets several arrests
The El Centro Police Department conducted two DUI/ driver’s license checkpoints recently which netted one DUI arrest, cited or arrested six drivers for driving without a li- cense and issued six citations.
Also during the Aug. 31 and Saturday checkpoints, police screened 603 vehicles, administered 12 field sobriety tests.
The police department also announced it will be deploying additional officers in the field over this coming weekend in a continued effort to lower deaths and injuries upon the city’s streets and highways.
Drivers caught driving impaired can expect the impact of a DUI arrest to include jail time, fines, fees, DUI classes, license suspension and other expenses that can exceed $10,000.
