-

A number of deceased cats were found stored in a freezer in a residence on Citrus Avenue on Tuesday afternoon, stated county Sheriff’s Office activity logs.

A suspicious box that had a message and a date on it was found in the freezer at the residence. It was discovered in the box that the subject had been keeping deceased cats in her freezer.

The residence was then cleared and the cats were left outside in the box for the Animal Control Office, which responded to the scene at about 2 p.m. Tuesday.

The Imperial County Public Administrator’s Office was responding to the residence at the time and reported the incident to the county Sheriff’s Office.
