Port of entry blocked.
Mexicali activists blocked the Calexico West Port of Entry for about five minutes Wednesday morning as they demand salaries that would match the salaries of American workers in the same industry.
Members of Mexicali Civic Front and Angeles de la Frontera groups marched through downtown Mexicali streets and ended their protest at the border crossing around 11 a.m.
The demonstrators seek the issue to be discussed during the negotiations of the North American Free Trade Agreement among the governments of the United States, Mexico and Canada.
“Same work, same wages,” said the groups’ leader Sergio Tamai.
According to the activist if manufacturing plants in Mexico do not raise salaries the Donald Trump Administration might accuse them of salary dumping.
