McAllister takes week seven
The seventh week of the high school football season showcased some of the top teams in the Imperial Valley and Manzanita leagues as league action opened last week.
The games produced a strong pool of week seven Gridiron Greats nominees that drew in some votes.
Hauling in votes for his defensive efforts was Southwest High School’s Trey McAllister, who ran away with the week seven honors.
The Eagles held a young Central Union High School football team to just six points in a 35-6 win last week.
McAllister tallied 12 tackles with two for a loss and one sack for a loss of 10 yards in the game for the Eagles.
To see the next crop of Gridiron Greats nominees, pick up Tuesday’s edition of the Imperial Valley Press.
Voting for week eight athletes will begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday and conclude at 2 p.m. Thursday with the winner announced in next Friday’s edition of the Imperial Valley Press.
