Man arrested for smuggling meth
A 28-year-old man was arrested at about 1:30 p.m. Sunday after more than 38 pounds of methamphetamine was allegedly found in the vehicle he was driving at the Calexico downtown port of entry.
Jose Rodolfo Perales Rosas had been referred to an X-ray analysis of the vehicle he was the sole occupant of prior to being sent to secondary inspection by a Customs and Border Protection officer, a federal court complaint stated.
Further inspection allegedly revealed 36 packages of methamphetamine hidden in the tires of the vehicle, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California complaint stated.
Perales was booked into county jail and held without bail in connection to the incident.
