Man ar­rested after rob­bery.

An in­di­vid­ual was ap­pre­hended Tues­day evening in south­ern Mex­i­cali after a bank rob­bery, said the Mu­nic­i­pal Pub­lic Safety Depart­ment.

Au­thor­i­ties said the sus­pect was iden­ti­fied as Mario “Doe,” 35.

The in­ci­dent was re­ported at 7:50 p.m. at Ban­cop­pel bank lo­cated at Santa Is­abel Av­enue and Gómez Morín Boule­vard.

An em­ployee told of­fi­cers the sus­pect al­legedly ar­rived at the scene and bran­dished a firearm to de­mand cash.

The cashier gave the sus­pect 35,000 pe­sos or $1,966.

The sus­pect fled on foot, the po­lice said.

Po­lice of­fi­cers be­gan search­ing the area and found a man who matched the de­scrip­tion pro­vided by wit­nesses at Gómez Morín Boule­vard and Che­coslo­vaquia Street at Colo­nia Los Olivos neigh­bor­hood.

Au­thor­i­ties said nei­ther the cash nor the gun were lo­cated.

The sus­pect was trans­ported to the po­lice head­quar­ters.
