Tigers top Palo Verde

BLYTHE — The Imperial High baseball team opened the IVL season on the road, traveling to face Palo Verde Valley here on Tuesday night.

The Tigers worked to come away with a 14-3 victory, with Alex Duarte recording the win and Connor Kelly earning the save.

Duarte threw four innings, giving up just two hits and waving seven, while Kelly went three innings, giving up six hits and striking out three.

Offensively for Imperial, Roberto Gonzalez went 3-4 with a double; Jakob Trujillo went 2-4 with two RBIs; Duarte went 2-3 with one RBI; Santiago De La Torre went 1-3 with one RBI; Chris Lopez went 1-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Victor Nunez went 1-1 with one RBI.

The teams will face off again at 6:30 p.m. on Friday in Imperial.
