Man indicted for homicide
An individual who allegedly killed a woman and caused injuries to a man in an accident while driving under the influence was indicted Tuesday, said the Attorney General’s office.
The suspect was identified as Carlos Andrés “Doe,” no age reported.
The suspect was driving a green Nissan Sentra on May 6, when he allegedly ignored a street light at the intersection of Río Presidio Avenue and Independencia Avenue at Colonia Benito Juárez neighborhood.
The driver hit a white 1998 Chevrolet Prizm, killing Sabina Ramírez Prado and injuring Israel Chávez.
A burgundy Toyota Corolla also had damages in the accident, authorities said.
The suspect was arrested at the scene by Mexicali police officers.
The judge decided to keep the suspect in prison during trial and gave detectives three months to close the investigation.
The agency charged the suspect with aggravated homicide while driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, causing injuries and property damage.
