Man in­dicted for homi­cide

An in­di­vid­ual who al­legedly killed a woman and caused in­juries to a man in an ac­ci­dent while driv­ing un­der the in­flu­ence was in­dicted Tues­day, said the At­tor­ney Gen­eral’s of­fice.

The sus­pect was iden­ti­fied as Car­los An­drés “Doe,” no age re­ported.

The sus­pect was driv­ing a green Nis­san Sen­tra on May 6, when he al­legedly ig­nored a street light at the in­ter­sec­tion of Río Pre­sidio Av­enue and In­de­pen­den­cia Av­enue at Colo­nia Ben­ito Juárez neigh­bor­hood.

The driver hit a white 1998 Chevro­let Prizm, killing Sabina Ramírez Prado and in­jur­ing Is­rael Chávez.

A bur­gundy Toy­ota Corolla also had dam­ages in the ac­ci­dent, au­thor­i­ties said.

The sus­pect was ar­rested at the scene by Mex­i­cali po­lice of­fi­cers.

The judge de­cided to keep the sus­pect in prison dur­ing trial and gave de­tec­tives three months to close the in­ves­ti­ga­tion.

The agency charged the sus­pect with ag­gra­vated homi­cide while driv­ing un­der the in­flu­ence of drugs and al­co­hol, caus­ing in­juries and prop­erty dam­age.
