Public transit fare increase expected soon
The 19 percent increase of the public transit fare waits for the mayoral approval, a city official said.
Mexicali City Councilman Héctor Ibarra told La Crónica newspaper public transit companies must first comply with the four requirements set by the mayor’s office.
Among the requirements transit companies are obligated to renew at least 10 percent of buses within a year.
The fare would increase from 13 to 15.50 pesos, or from $0.72 to $0.86.
The councilman expects all requirements to be ready by month’s end.
