The depths of Kris Jenner’s lust for power, fame and control are being exposed in Ian Halperin’s new book, Kardashian Dynasty. It delves into everything from Kris’ role in the release of Kim’s 2007 sex tape with Ray J and how Kris pressured Kim to pose for Playboy the same year to how Kris arranged Kim and Kanye’s marriage (see main story) and tried to use religion to “cure” then-husband Bruce Jenner of his gender-identity issues. Regarding the infamous sex tape, Halperin writes that Kris deliberately “engineered the deal [with Vivid Video] behind the scenes and was responsible for the sex tape seeing the light of day,” all in an effort to make Kim famous, just like her old friend Paris Hilton. Kris also pressured a very reluctant Kim into posing nude for Playboy, urging her to do it to strengthen the family brand and because it meant a huge payday. It gets worse: The book goes on to claim that Kris, who knew Bruce (now Caitlyn) cross-dressed, used their Christian faith to get him to suppress his true self. “She told him he should pray, that church would help him heal,” a coach who knew Bruce, 66, told the author. Halperin added that he believes Kris’ tactics to “pray away” Caitlyn’s gender identity sounds “suspiciously like conversion therapy.”
