Josh Duggar revealed via his family’s website on May 27 that he and wife Anna, 27, are in marriage and family counseling. “It is a long road to rebuild trust and a healthy relationship [but we’re taking] important steps toward healing,” wrote Josh, 28. But In Touch has learned that the disgraced Duggar had motives for opening up. “This is a ploy by Josh to get back onto TV. He’s hoping this will show everyone he’s taken real steps to deal with his problems,” says a source close to the former 19 Kids and Counting star, whose show was canceled by TLC last July, shortly after In Touch broke the news that as a teen he had repeatedly molested five female minors, including four of his sisters. Then in August, he confessed to adultery and a porn addiction, which led to a six-month stint in a faith-based rehab facility. And while he’s been working as a used-car salesman since his March release, says the source, Josh believes another reality show “is the only way he’s going to be able to make a proper income” for his family: wife Anna and kids Mackynzie, 6, Michael, 4, Marcus, 2, and Meredith, 10 months. Josh could be in for a rude awakening. While he might have his family fooled,” adds the source, “the public isn’t as trusting.”

“Josh is realizing that his father, Jim Bob, can’t keep supporting him financially for the rest of his life,” says a source close to him.
