The riveting season two premiere finds Everlasting, the dating reality show within the show, doing something its real-life counterpart The Bachelor hasn’t done in 20 seasons: casting a black suitor. “I think it is the right thing to do for so many reasons,” argues Rachel (Shiri Appleby), who’s now running Everlasting — but still being overseen by her mentor Quinn (Constance Zimmer). But if you guessed that all of the reasons pro quarterback Darius ( B. J. Britt) was cast aren’t “the right reasons,” you’re correct. Among the women competing for him is a “hot racist” who doesn’t know the suitor is black and “an even hotter black activist” they hope she feuds with! Meanwhile, Rachel’s personal life is in crisis: She’s having a fling with Darius’ manager Romeo (Gentry White), ignoring messages from her mom (who’s concerned her daughter is having a “hypersexual manic episode”) and working with her spiteful ex Jeremy (Josh Kelly) on set. Rachel’s paid the cost to be the boss — and we can’t wait to see what happens next!
