An Oregon rancher found a unique way to catch a thief — he lassoed the varmint! When Robert Borba spied a man stealing a bicycle in a Walmart parking lot on June 10, he saddled right up. (Robert had his horse with him in a trailer.) “I wasn’t going to catch him on foot,” explains Robert. Before you could say “giddyap,” Robert and his horse caught up with the bike bandit. Robert then expertly lassoed him, and dragged him like a roped calf to the end of the parking lot. “Do you have a badge to do this?” the perplexed thief asked Robert as they waited for the police — who were just as surprised. “We’ve never had anyone lassoed and held until we got there,” marveled Eagle Point Sgt. Darin May. “That’s a first!” But it was all in a day’s work for the 28-year-old. “I use a rope every day,” shrugged Robert. “It catches a bandit pretty good.”
