Elle Fanning is the new-intown It Girl model inciting jealousy and predatory lust in LA in this dark drama from Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn. It strikes provocative poses even if its plot is thinner than the models.

Matthew Mcconaughey is a poor farmer who joins forces with slaves to lead an armed rebellion against the Confederacy during the Civil War in this historical action drama. (Gugu Mbatha-raw plays his wife, an ex-slave.) It’s not your typical summer fare.
Wiener-dog FRI. 6/24, R ★★★✩✩
A dachshund goes from one dysfunctional owner to the next in director Todd Solondz’s viciously cruel yet also empathic comedy. Greta Gerwig plays an adult Dawn Wiener, Heather Matarazzo’s character in Solondz’s high school classic Welcome to the Dollhouse.
TOM CRUISE (Ethan), 53, stars in The Mummy, Mena and Jack Reacher: Never Go Back and has plans for both a sixth Mission: Impossible and a sequel to Top Gun.
