DESPERATELY TRYING TO SAVE HIS MARRIAGE

Party boy no more! How Jimmy Fallon is repairing his relationship with his wife and kids

It was supposed to be a family day. But instead of paying attention to his wife, Nancy Juvonen, 49, and their two little girls, Winnie, 3, and Frances, 20 months, Jimmy Fallon’s main focus was his phone. “Nancy snapped,” says a source who saw the Fallons at a kids’ festival near their home in New York’s Hamptons this past spring. “She said to Jimmy, ‘ You’re barely here as it is, so when you’re with the kids, please try to engage with them and not be on your phone the whole time.’ They got into a big fight.”

It was a turning point for the couple. After a difficult few years for Jimmy — marked by reports of heavy drinking, serious injuries and an increasingly strained relationship with Nancy — the host of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, 41, has vowed to be a better husband and father before it’s too late. “Jimmy has been spending the summer with his family holed up in their Hamptons home trying to save his marriage,” the source tells In Touch exclusively. “He and Nancy went through a really bad patch last year. But he’s making his family a priority and wants to make things right again.”

He has a lot to prove. Jimmy has repeatedly made headlines over the last few years for his wild latenight partying at NYC bars. He also raised eyebrows after suffering two unusual and serious injuries to his hands in falls in June and October 2015 amid allegations he’d been drinking too much. ( NBC reps have denied he has a drinking problem.) “Nancy was embarrassed,” says the source, explaining that it took a toll on their eight-year marriage. “She kept an eye on him, and when Jimmy faced backlash, she put on a united front for the press. But she

just wasn’t happy.” The drama also affected his job. “While the network supported him — his show is No. 1 in the late-night ratings — top execs were “watching him very carefully,” the insider explained.

Jimmy and Nancy grew further apart. As the funnyman continued to party hard in NYC, his wife — Drew Barrymore’s BFF and longtime producing partner — retreated to their Hamptons home with the kids. “At first, Jimmy would take a helicopter to meet them on weekends and sometimes after tapings during the week. But as time went on, he spent less time with them. They began to live separate lives,” says the source. The divide was devastating to Nancy. “Before they had kids, she was fine with Jimmy’s partying. But once Winnie was born, she expected him to calm down a bit, and he never did. All Nancy wanted was for Jimmy to be a better father and husband, or just to see him try a bit more.”

He’s finally taken notice. “Watching Drew go through her split [from Will Kopelman, in the spring] opened Jimmy’s eyes. He realized he was taking their marriage for granted,” says the source. “Jimmy knows now that he has a lot to lose. It’s making him take a closer look at his priorities.” So far, it’s working. “For the first time in a long time,” says the source, “he and Nancy genuinely seem happy.” ◼

Where They’re Holed Up

“Nancy needed to see him try a bit more because she was feeling like a single parent at times,” says a source, who confirms Jimmy is spending the summer with his family at their Hamptons home.

ROUGH PATCH “Things got so bad between Jimmy and Nancy that when he would come home, they’d just snap at each other,” says a source.
