The road to parenthood hasn’t been easy for George and Amal Clooney. After unsuccessfully trying for a baby all summer, the human rights lawyer sought the help of a fertility doctor. “Amal will be starting in vitro fertilization next month,” a source tells In Touch. “Given their ages — Amal’s 38 and George is 55 — the doctor said they need to start right away because time isn’t on their side.” It was a blow to the couple. “Resorting to IVF was a very hard decision, especially for George because he’s never had trouble doing anything before,” says the source, adding that Amal is not only disappointed but she’s also scared. “She’s afraid of needles, so her biggest fear is getting the hormone injections. But she knows it’s worth it. She’ll do anything to start a family with George.”

“Age is a huge factor as to why they are having such trouble getting pregnant,” says a source.
