A-listers are amping up the glitz and glam with gilded hues, but not
There’s a new kind of gold rush sweeping Hollywood as celebrities are stepping out onto the red carpet wearing glittering metallic eye shadows. “It’s no surprise that stars are drawn to gold,” says celebrity makeup artist David Maderich, who’s worked with Gisele Bündchen and Kate Hudson. “The pigment adds standout edge with a sophisticated twist. And with a framework around the eye, like layers of black mascara or a winged liner, the bold gold color looks balanced and chic instead of campy.” But, Maderich notes, while shades of the opulent hue — from bronze-based to rosetoned — can complement all skin tones, all that glitters is not gold when it comes to hair color.
