A Wedding … and a TV Show

Khloé & Tristan Khloé Kardashian jumps back into marriage — and the reality TV spotlight — with NBA star Tristan Thompson

Khloé Kardashian moves fast. Barely three weeks after meeting Cleveland Cavaliers center Tristan Thompson at comedian Kevin Hart’s Aug. 13 wedding, the reality star and the NBA player were photographed house-hunting in Beverly Hills before jetting off to Mexico together. Now just two months into their romance, In Touch has learned they’ve already taken things to the next level. “Tristan got down on one knee and asked Khloé to marry him,” says an insider. “She’s delighted to be engaged and can’t wait to tie the knot early next year.”

Her family didn’t immediately embrace the happy news. “When Kris Jenner first found out, she went ballistic,” says the insider. “She accused Khloé of once again being blinded by love and moving too quickly, like she did when she married Lamar [Odom] after just a month of knowing him.” But Khloé, 32, countered with a pitch her momager couldn’t resist: a reality show with her new man. “Kris quickly changed her tune,” says the insider. “She suddenly went from ranting about Khloé’s ‘destructive relationship habits’ to telling her that she’ll make millions from marrying Tristan.”

Kris, 60, thinks Khloé and her latest NBA star love interest could save the family brand. With filming for the family’s flagship series, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, on hold since Kim Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint in Paris on Oct. 3, “Kris is terrified that fans will lose interest,” explains the insider. “She desperately wants a new project to work on and thinks Khloé and Tristan’s show would be ratings gold, especially if they include all the drama surrounding the basketball player leaving his pregnant ex for her daughter.” (See sidebar below.)

And Tristan, 25, is all for it. “He loves the fame he’s getting from being with a Kardashian,” says the insider. He chose the right sister. “Out of all the Kardashians, Khloé is the one who loves the cameras the most,” explains a family source. “For too long, her story lines have revolved around her crying over drama with Lamar and all the issues that came with that. Khloé’s in a much better headspace now and wants to show off her relationship.”

She’ll start with their lavish wedding. “Khloé and Tristan plan on spending at least $1 million on their big day and are inviting 400 guests. They want the wedding to be in California and are already looking at private estates in Malibu and Santa Barbara,” says the insider. “Kris is hoping it’ll bring in even more viewers than Kim’s [2011] wedding to Kris Humphries.”

And Khloé’s hoping this one will have a happier ending. “She and Tristan are madly in love,” says the insider, “and saying they want to spend the rest of their lives together.” ◼
