If I Haven’t Offended Anyone, I Haven’t Done My Job!
No one is safe from the hilarious comic’s epic rants
Long before celebrity roasts went mainstream, Kathy Griffin was blazing a trail as the queen of insulting A-list stars — and occasionally some of her audience members as well. “I don’t feel like I’ve done my job unless someone storms out of my show,” the fearless 55-year-old actress-comic tells In Touch. Here, Kathy dishes on the celeb she regrets dissing, her relationship with her 18-years-younger boyfriend, Randy Bick, and what Blac Chyna has that she covets!
It’s safe to say you’ve offended your fair share of people throughout the years. KG: Are you kidding? Every day! I think it’s important to offend certain people. Some comics, like Jerry Seinfeld and Ellen Degeneres, never offend anyone, and that’s great. But I think it’s key.
about it afterward? KG: All the time. Especially when I get to know them. I’ve become friends with Renée Zellweger, and I made a heinous joke about her once. But now we’re texting buddies.
Is it harder being a woman in your field? KG: It’s still such a male-dominated arena. When you’re a female, you have to work harder and jump higher. And men don’t have to worry about the way they look.
Speaking of looks, what are your thoughts on plastic surgery? KG: I got a face-lift around 2000, and it didn’t really give me anything I thought it would.
Do you regret it? KG: I would [tell] my younger self not to bother. Two weeks ago someone in the industry told me, “They loved your meeting, but they decided to go ‘pretty.’” I’m like, “Let me know when they decide to go ‘ugly and funny,’ because here I am!”
That’s crazy! KG: It’s constant.
You’ve been with your boyfriend, Randy, for five years. What’s the most romantic thing he’s done for you? KG: This is going to sound really weird: He’s very tidy and I’m kind of messy, so he tidies things up. He’s just the right amount of OCD.
What are you watching on TV these days? KG: Well, I watch the news 24/7, because my audience expects me to be up on everything from Blac Chyna to Hillary Clinton.
Are you a fan of Blac Chyna? KG: Her emojis are very good. So I’m trying to become White Chyna. I don’t know if I could sleep with Rob [Kardashian] though. I don’t know if I wanna sell emojis that bad! ◼
