A GILMORE ENCORE!
Catch up for coffee — and lots of talk! — with old friends by watching this welcome revival (four new 90-minute episodes, each spanning one season: Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall), which finds mom Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham) and daughter Rory (Alexis Bledel) dealing with the death of Lorelai’s dad, Richard. “I’ve been married 50 years, half of my life is gone!” exclaims Lorelai’s mom, Emily, whose idea of mourning involves a wall-sized portrait of her late husband and even ( gasp!) wearing jeans and a T-shirt. Meanwhile, Lorelai thinks she’s still happy with Luke (Scott Patterson), while Rory is in a career crisis. “I have no job, I have no credit, I have no underwear…i coulda been a contenda!” she confesses to Luke’s nephew (and her ex!) Jess (Milo Ventimiglia). But it’s not all angst: There’s also plenty of pastries, pop culture references and the return of many fan favorites (including Melissa Mccarthy as Sookie). It’s obvious that the Gilmore Girls need each other more than ever — and we need them, too!
