The title of this intensely intimate documentary refers to Lady Gaga’s short stature, but its content elevates the singer to new heights. Chronicling the eight-month period in the singer’s hectic life during the fallout from her Artpop album and the making of the follow-up Joanne, it’s both a behind-the-scenes look at Gaga as a working superstar — and a sneak peek at Stefani Germanotta. We’ll see Gaga prep for the Super Bowl halftime show, but we’ll also see her shop at Walmart, play with her dogs, attend a family christening — and physically struggle with chronic pain. “[It’s not] a big commercial for me, of everybody watching it and seeing how perfect I am, seeing how perfect my career is, because that is simply not true,” says Gaga of the doc. “That would not be in line with everything I am as an artist. I think the most important thing you can be is authentic.” Although Five Foot Two will inevitably be compared to Madonna’s documentary, Truth or Dare, it’s also unmistakably Gaga — and we love it!
