EXPOSED DEMI’S OVERDOSE NIGHTMARE: By Her Drug Dealer

After nearly dying, Demi Lovato faces the prospect of all her sordid drug details coming out

-

They didn’t know if she would make it. After an assistant discovered Demi Lovato unconscious in her bed inside her Hollywood Hills home around 11 a.m. on July 24 following a night of partying, paramedics arrived to fi nd the 25-yearold pop star in the throes of an overdose. Demi was treated with Narcan — a drug that counteracts the effects of narcotic overdoses — and transported to LA’S CedarsSinai Medical Center. Later that day, her rep shared that Demi was, at last, “awake and with her family.”

But her nightmare is far from over. “Not only does she know she could have died and has a long road ahead of her, she’s afraid that those who have knowledge of her drug use — specifically, her drug dealer — could expose the details of her latest spiral,” says an insider. “There are whispers that he plans to tell all. He sees this as an opportunity to cash in on what happened and tell a news outlet everything, like how she begged for more. The story would be a bombshell. All of her secrets from her relapse leading up to the overdose could soon be out there.”

Demi’s camp was quick to shoot down widespread reports that she had OD’D on heroin, but refused to reveal what drug or drugs she did take. “The drug dealer knows,” says the insider. The dealer also knows what caused her to relapse in the first place: the five-year anniversary of her father’s death in June. “It must have been so painful for her,” adds the insider, “because they had a strained relationship.” (She’s said he was also an addict and called him “abusive.”)

Demi isn’t the only one worried about a tell-all, adds the insider: “People in her inner circle as well as random people who started hanging around her after she relapsed are extremely concerned about what could come out, too.”

HIDING HER ADDICTION

Demi got clean in March 2012 after years of abusing alcohol, cocaine, Adderall and more as a teen. Then in June, she drew praise for her honesty when she revealed in a new song, ironically titled “Sober,” that she’d fallen of the wagon after six years. “But the relapse was worse than anyone knew,” says a source. “Demi did her best to hide her problems from everyone.” She wasn’t always so successful: While leaving Hollywood’s Warwick Club at 2:30 a.m. on July 14, she looked like she was having trouble standing up.

Demi was in danger — and the drug dealer knew just how much. “If he tells all, it could be very damaging and embarrassing for Demi, especially because she’s so fragile and vulnerable right now,” says the insider. “It’s sad. What she needs now more than ever is support, not some drug dealer stabbing her in the back.” ◼
