SO WHAT DO YOU DO ... CHANEL IMAN?
SO WHAT DO YOU DO...
How the model and new mom slows down and stays healthy
BEFORE HER PREGNANCY, the supermodel was working out with a trainer four times a week. Now Iman, who signed her first modeling contract at 13, is slowing down with prenatal yoga and meditation. “Being pregnant is work all on its own,” she says. “I just try to do something active every day.” Iman has also reevaluated her diet: “I’m eating healthier today than I ever have in my whole life. Instead of eating junk, I focus on finding healthy foods that taste good and give me energy,” she says. “I feel so much less sluggish now that I can’t imagine going back to eating any other way.”
I’m very sensitive to scent, so I keep my skin care simple,” says Iman, who likes hydrating cleansers such as Pond’s. “It’s all about moisturizing.” Pond’s Cold Cream Cleanser, $7/6.1 oz.; at drugstores. Dermalogica Active Moist, $63; dermalogica.com.
EAT FOR ENERGY “I used to grab fries or a chocolate shake on set, but now I’ll eat nuts or a nutrition bar,” says Iman. Her latest craving? “Açaï bowls. They taste just as good as ice cream to me!”
On the football field with husband Sterling Shepard STRONGER TOGETHER When it comes to fitness, Iman and her husband, New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard, keep each other motivated. “Lately he’s been training in L.A., so I walk up and down the [stadium] stairs while he’s practicing.”
ZEN OUT Taking prenatal yoga classes at Love Child studios in N.Y.C. has been beneficial for “mind, body, and soul,” says Iman, who plans to keep up the practice. “They even have classes you and your baby can do together.”
TAKE CARE “My back and feet have been hurting during my pregnancy, but I’ve been getting weekly massages at The Montage in Los Angeles,” says Iman.
“I rub this oil on my body to help prevent stretch marks.” Hatch Mama Belly Oil, $58; hatch collection.com.
