Cross stitch over two threads us­ing two strands of floss. Work 3/4 cross stitch where small sym­bols ap­pear us­ing two strands of floss.

Back­stitch over two threads us­ing one strand 310/45053 for skull and two strands 310/45053 for re­main­ing back­stitch.

At­tach beads for spi­der eyes us­ing one strand 310/45053 and a cross stitch.

gros­grain ribbon • 1 yard 1/2"-wide vel­vet gimp braid 1861193 from Sim­plic­ity* • One pack­age black size 6 Pony Beads G16014 from Mill Hill* • Polyester fiber­fill • Co­or­di­nat­ing sewing

Press stitched piece from re­verse side straight­en­ing as much as pos­si­ble. Cen­ter and trim stitched piece to 31/2" x 81/2".

Hand-baste one piece of bat­ting to re­verse side of one piece of co­or­di­nat­ing fab­ric for front.

Cen­ter stitched piece on right side of front fab­ric and hand-baste in place. Stay­ing close to edges of stitched piece, use ma­chine zigzag stitch to sew stitched piece to front fab­ric piece, cre­at­ing pil­low front.

Cen­ter laven­der gros­grain ribbon over zigzag stitches and baste in place, mi­ter­ing cor­ners. Sew ribbon along both edges to pil­low front. Cen­ter black braid over gros­grain ribbon and hand-sew in place. Sew beads to black trim us­ing photo for ref­er­ence.

Baste the pip­ing along edges of pil­low front, align­ing pip­ing and fab­ric edges. Us­ing a zip­per-foot at­tach­ment, stitch as close to pip­ing as pos­si­ble, mi­ter­ing cor­ners.

Hand-baste re­main­ing piece of bat­ting to re­verse side of re­main­ing co­or­di­nat­ing fab­ric piece for pil­low back.

Place back piece and pil­low front wrong sides to­gether. Stitch to­gether us­ing 1/2" seam al­lowance, be­ing care­ful not to stitch over pip­ing and leav­ing one side open for stuff­ing.

Turn pil­low right side out and stuff with fiber­fill. Fold pil­low front and back un­der 1/2" and blind-stitch open­ing closed.
