In­struc­tions: Cross stitch over two threads us­ing two strands of floss. Work 1/4 cross stitch where small sym­bols ap­pear us­ing two strands of floss. Work run­ning stitch over two threads us­ing one strand 158/45473.

Press stitched piece from re­verse side, straight­en­ing as much as pos­si­ble. Trim stitched piece to a 91/2" square.

For lin­ing, fold un­der top edge of each piece of lin­ing fab­ric 1/4". Press. Fold un­der 1/4" again and stitch along pressed edge. Place lin­ing pieces right sides to­gether, and stitch one side us­ing a 1/4" seam al­lowance. Press seam.

For the outer bag, fold and stitch the top edge of the back­ing fab­ric and stitched piece in the same man­ner as the lin­ing. Place back­ing fab­ric over stitched piece, right sides to­gether, and stitch one side us­ing a 1/4" seam al­lowance. Press seam. Flip outer bag so right side is fac­ing up.

Place lin­ing right sides to­gether with outer bag. Stitch one side to­gether us­ing a 1/4" seam al­lowance, stop­ping 1" from the top. Press seam.

Fold so that wrong sides of outer bag and lin­ing are to­gether. Pin edges to keep even. To make the cas­ing for draw­string, mea­sure 1" from top of stitched area and mark a line across the length; baste pieces to­gether along line. Mea­sure 1/2" above bast­ing line. Baste along this line, mak­ing sure that the outer bag and lin­ing are straight. Stitch pieces to­gether along bast­ing lines, leav­ing a 2" open­ing on both ends.

Fold the piece so that right sides of outer bag are to­gether. Stitch bot­tom and re­main­ing side, stop­ping at lower bast­ing line. Turn right side out. In­sert silk cord into cas­ing; in­sert lock tog­gle onto cord. Tie knots in each end and gather bag as de­sired. Turn in each top end of un­fin­ished fab­ric 1/4" and hand-sew closed. Sew jump ring to sides of bag 11/2" from top. Con­nect metal han­dle to jump rings with clasps.
