Just Cross Stitch

Praiseworthy Stitches

- Pam Lewis and Susan Rohm

Every year for Christmas, I (Susan) hang packs of unopened baseball cards on my Christmas tree. It all started when my husband, Rick, an avid baseball card collector, would always guess his Christmas presents (including a box of baseball cards) before he would open them. So one year, I bought two boxes of baseball cards, opened them and placed each pack in the tree! When he asked why I put the ball cards in the tree, I said it was because he would always guess what they were, and now he could see them but couldn’t touch them until Christmas morning! From then on, each Christmas morning after the gifts were opened, our daughters would give the packs to their daddy. Now our grandchildren have the job of retrieving the baseball cards and giving them to their grandpa. It wouldn’t be Christmas without baseball cards decorating our tree!
