Instructions: Cross stitch over two threads using two strands of floss.
Backstitch over two threads using one strand of floss.
Work diamond Algerian eye stitch over 12 threads using one strand of floss.
Work Algerian eye stitch over four threads using one strand of floss.
Work Algerian eye stitch over two threads using one strand of floss.
Finishing Materials & Instructions
• 16" x 16" pillow form • Two 11" x 17" rectangles coordinating fabric • Coordinating sewing thread • Straight pins • Template material • 1/8"-wide twisted cording • Sewing machine (optional)
Pillow
Press stitched piece from reverse side, straightening as much as possible. Trim stitched piece to 17" x 17".
Fold under 1/4" twice on one 17" side of one coordinating fabric rectangle. Press and stitch to create finished edge. Repeat with remaining coordinating fabric rectangle.
Placing right sides together, align unfinished edge of one coordinating fabric rectangle with top edge of stitched piece. Pin in place. Repeat on bottom edge of stitched piece with remaining coordinating fabric rectangle. Finished edges of coordinating fabric will overlap, allowing insertion of pillow form.
Using 1/2" seam allowance, sew around all sides of pillow. Clip corners to reduce bulk. Turn right side out. Insert pillow form.
Ornament
Using template provided, make a template. Center template over stitched piece. Pin in place. Trim stitched piece to same size as template. Refer to FlatOrnament Finishing Instructions on page 59. Hanger and trim were made using 1/8"-wide twisted-cording.
