Spice up your stitch­ing with this herba­li­cious de­sign. Stitched pri­mar­ily in back­stitches, this project em­ploys per­fect use of space to cre­ate a wreath com­posed of the names of spices and herbs used in a myr­iad of culi­nary de­lights.

• Size 24 tapestry nee­dle

Stitch Count: 132H x 132W De­sign Size: 91/2" x 91/2"

In­struc­tions: Cross stitch over two threads us­ing two strands of floss. Work 1/4 cross stitch where small sym­bols ap­pear us­ing two strands of floss.

Back­stitch over two threads us­ing two strands of floss.

Work star stitch over eight threads us­ing two strands of floss.

Fin­ish­ing Ma­te­ri­als & In­struc­tions

• 12" square fusible fleece

• 12" square co­or­di­nat­ing fab­ric

• 11/2 yards 1/2" co­or­di­nat­ing double-fold

bias tape • Straight pins

• Sewing ma­chine (op­tional)

Press stitched piece from re­verse side, straight­en­ing as much as pos­si­ble. Fol­low­ing the man­u­fac­turer's in­struc­tions, cen­ter and at­tach fusible fleece to re­verse side of stitched piece. Place co­or­di­nat­ing fab­ric on work sur­face, right side down, place and cen­ter stitched piece, right side up, on fab­ric. Mak­ing sure all lay­ers are smooth and flat, pin lay­ers to­gether. Trim co­or­di­nat­ing fab­ric to same size as stitched piece. Sew raw edges to­gether us­ing zigzag or blan­ket stitch.

Start­ing in mid­dle of bot­tom edge, open bias tape and en­case the stitched edges be­tween tape, pin­ning as you work. Upon reach­ing start­ing point, cut bias tape 1/2" past start­ing point. Fold end of tape un­der slightly, cov­er­ing start of tape. Pin in place. Sew bias tape in place, mi­ter­ing each cor­ner. Sew length of floss to back for hang­ing.
