In­struc­tions: Us­ing two strands of floss through­out, back­stitch the out­lines of the cen­tral di­a­mond mo­tifs over four threads to cre­ate a smooth out­line.

Us­ing two strands of floss, wrap back­stitches on out­side of di­a­monds to cre­ate a cord ef­fect.

Stitch cen­tral di­a­mond mo­tifs, adding cross-stitch flow­ers and filler pat­terns.

Work the 996/45315 back­ground pat­tern and the four squares.

Us­ing two strands of floss, work bor­der and cross-stitch band around the com­plete pat­tern. Long stitches are worked over six threads. Back­stitch around the outer bor­der us­ing one strand 3891/45314 af­ter all cross stitches have been worked.

Add beads us­ing cross stitches of com­ple­men­tary floss. Work French knots, us­ing two strands of floss and wrap­ping floss once around nee­dle.

• 10" square fusible sta­bi­lizer • Four 11/4" x 12" pieces co­or­di­nat­ing

solid fab­ric • 161/2" x 161/2" piece (Back), two 31/2" x 91/2" pieces (Side Bor­der Strips), and two 31/2" x 161/2" pieces ( Top/Bot­tom Bor­der Strips) co­or­di­nat­ing print fab­ric • 16" pil­low form • Sewing ma­chine (op­tional)

Press stitched piece from re­verse side, straight­en­ing as much as pos­si­ble. At­tach fusible sta­bi­lizer to re­verse side of stitched piece fol­low­ing man­u­fac­turer's in­struc­tions. With the de­sign cen­tered, trim to 91/2" square.

Fold the solid fab­ric strips in half with wrong sides to­gether; press. Us­ing 1/4" seam al­lowance through­out, sew two strips to op­po­site sides of stitched piece along raw edges and then trim even with stitched piece. Pin re­main­ing two strips along re­main­ing two sides. Fold ends 90 de­grees to miter cor­ners; pin and sew both sides in place. Trim ex­cess fab­ric.

Sew Side Bor­der Strips to sides of stitched piece. Sew Top and Bot­tom Bor­der Strips to stitched piece. Pin Back fab­ric to pieced top with right sides to­gether. Sew around edges, leav­ing an 8"–10" open­ing along one side. Turn right side out through open­ing and in­sert pil­low form. Us­ing a hand-sewing nee­dle and thread, blind-stitch open­ing closed.
