Forum on comp plan update set for Nov. 2
CHESTERTOWN — The Kent County Planning Commission recently announced that there have been 436 completed citizen survey forms submitted and recorded with respect to the update of the county’s comprehensive plan.
The survey commenced in July and concluded Firday, Oct. 21.
Information on the comprehensive plan update can be found at www.kentcounty. com/ planning/ comp- planupdate.
The survey asked Kent County residents to share their opinions on land use, growth, agricultural and historic preservation strategies, along with general impressions on the direction of the county.
The survey results will be presented to the Kent County Planning Commission and the county commissioners for their deliberations in the plan update. The survey is part of a public participation effort to involve Kent County residents in the update to the county’s comprehensive plan.
The planning commission is seeking public participation at its second community forum on the update of the comprehensive plan from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2 at Kent County High School in Worton. The planning commission is seeking the public’s response, comments and opinions on the draft environment, transportation and housing sections.
The planning commission has been meeting with its consultant, Sandy Coyman of Earth Data Inc., and planning staff on the first Wednesday of each month to update and revise the 2006 Comprehensive Plan. These meetings are open to the public and also are live streamed at www.kentcounty.com/ commissioners/meeting-livevideo.
A third community forum will be scheduled during late fall as the project progresses. Once the draft plan is completed, formal public hearings will be held by both the planning commission and the county commissioners.
