ROCK HALL — Gilbert Hinefelt, “Gil,” of Rock Hall passed away Oct. 16, 2016, at the UMSMC at Easton, following a short illness.
Gil was born Feb. 2, 1940 to Alfred “Micky” and Tina Elburn Hinefelt of Skinners Neck. He was the beloved younger brother to the late Pearl Hinefelt Batchelor (“Purnell”) and Alfred F. “Bud” Hinefelt. Gil also is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Nila Joiner Hinefelt; a cherished daughter, Tammy Hinefelt Hawthorn (Ken) of Virginia; and son Keith Hinefelt (Susan) of Delaware; his dear sister, Violet Hinefelt Baxter (Jack) of Worton; a sister-in-law, Pat Hinefelt; and a brotherin-law, Louis Joiner (Betty). Gil was the loving patriarch to six grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, five nieces and a nephew.
Gil grew up in Skinners Neck. After attending Rock Hall High School, Gil worked as a waterman, which was his passion, and in construction. As a child, Gil attended Raum Chapel near home. Later, Gil became an active member of the Rock Hall SDA Church where he held numerous positions within the church including Elder and Head Elder. Gil had a strong faith, devotion and love for family, a marvelous sense of humor and very deep desire to serve his Lord.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct 30. The family will receive visitors from 1 to 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Rock Hall Seventh-day Adventist Church, which was so much a part of Gil’s life.
