ROCK HALL — Gilbert Hine­felt, “Gil,” of Rock Hall passed away Oct. 16, 2016, at the UMSMC at Eas­ton, fol­low­ing a short ill­ness.

Gil was born Feb. 2, 1940 to Al­fred “Micky” and Tina El­burn Hine­felt of Skin­ners Neck. He was the beloved younger brother to the late Pearl Hine­felt Batch­e­lor (“Pur­nell”) and Al­fred F. “Bud” Hine­felt. Gil also is sur­vived by his wife of over 50 years, Nila Joiner Hine­felt; a cher­ished daugh­ter, Tammy Hine­felt Hawthorn (Ken) of Vir­ginia; and son Keith Hine­felt (Su­san) of Delaware; his dear sis­ter, Vi­o­let Hine­felt Bax­ter (Jack) of Wor­ton; a sis­ter-in-law, Pat Hine­felt; and a broth­erin-law, Louis Joiner (Betty). Gil was the loving pa­tri­arch to six grand­chil­dren, 14 great grand­chil­dren, five nieces and a nephew.

Gil grew up in Skin­ners Neck. After at­tend­ing Rock Hall High School, Gil worked as a water­man, which was his pas­sion, and in con­struc­tion. As a child, Gil at­tended Raum Chapel near home. Later, Gil be­came an ac­tive mem­ber of the Rock Hall SDA Church where he held nu­mer­ous po­si­tions within the church in­clud­ing El­der and Head El­der. Gil had a strong faith, devo­tion and love for fam­ily, a mar­velous sense of hu­mor and very deep de­sire to serve his Lord.

Fu­neral ser­vices will be held at 2 p.m. Sun­day, Oct 30. The fam­ily will re­ceive vis­i­tors from 1 to 2 p.m.

In lieu of flow­ers, the fam­ily has re­quested that do­na­tions be made to the Rock Hall Sev­enth-day Ad­ven­tist Church, which was so much a part of Gil’s life.
