EARVEVILLE — Robert J. Ham­let, 77, of Ear­leville and Cedar Key, Fla. died on Oct. 19, 2016 at his sum­mer home in Ear­leville.

Bob was born on July 21, 1939 in Philadel­phia, Pa., son of the late Wil­liam and Cather­ine Du­gan Ham­let. He at­tended Penn State (where he met his wife) and was a grad­u­ate of Tem­ple Univer­sity. He ob­tained his mas­ter’s in ed­u­ca­tion from Cheyney Univer­sity. Bob be­gan his ca­reer as a high school teacher and for 33 years he taught pre-school and kinder­garten for Phila-

del­phia Pub­lic Schools, re­tir­ing in 1996. He had a love for music and singing and en­joyed with oth­ers both in Mary­land and Florida.

Mr. Ham­let is sur­vived by his wife of 54 years, Elaine Buck Ham­let; daugh­ter Colleen Ham­let of Up­per Darby, Pa.; a brother, Ed­ward Ham­let and sis­ter Nancy Toler, both of Ocean View, Del.; four grand­chil­dren; and one great-grand­daugh­ter.

Ser­vices will be held pri­vately.
